メルセデスが長期保有者への表彰制度を導入しているのは薄々知っていますが、俺には縁がないし、JAFバッジは興ざめだが、このバッジは日本では俺一人だろう。

Grille Badge Project

The prototype of the grille badge has arrived! Production has been approved and is underway.
Hello! This is the first of just a few updates you’ll receive about this project. The prototype arrived the other day, has been approved for production, and is expected to be completed in 4-6 weeks. I am very pleased with the execution and quality of the product.

Actual size is as previously mentioned: 3″ (76.2mm) diameter, .125″ (3.18mm) thick. Weight 3.1 oz, (88g.)

I’ve taken the sample and examined the optimal mounting on our grille. My opinion is that it is best in the lower part of the grille, below the wing, close to the grille star and barrel, flat against the grille screen.

Unfortunately, the supplied mounting hardware doesn’t look like it is optimal for our cars, but I’ll get the proper hardware and include it with each badge for conventional grille mounting. Since I have the samples and 4-6 weeks to try, this won’t be an issue!

We have 338 distinct buyers, and orders for 558 badges. 600 have been ordered so there will be some extras on hand for those that didn’t take advantage of the pre-order.

I will post additional information on the website as necessary as well, so don’t forget to go to the forums.
